Each year, Edinburgh marks the life, loves and works of one of the city’s most famous writers, Robert Louis Stevenson, on 13 November (his birthday). This year, to celebrate RLS Day, our friends at the University of Edinburgh are running a competition as part of their LitLong project.

Why not have a go at following the map around the city with your class, and reading excerpts of Stevenson’s work along the way, to find the missing manuscript? Enter and you could win a £50 book prize!

About LitLong

LitLong is a unique map of literary Edinburgh. Behind it sits a database of 50,000 excerpts from around 550 books which use an Edinburgh place name, allowing each to be given a set of coordinates and pinned to the map. The database was created using state of the art text-mining tools by a project team involving researchers in both English Literature and Informatics at the University of Edinburgh.
