Books & Signings

Free Books for Pupils

Every pupil attending the Baillie Gifford Schools Programme in person at the Book Festival this year will receive a free title relating to the event they come and see. You will receive your group’s books when you arrive at our Schools Check-in onsite.

Pupils attending the Baillie Gifford Schools Gala Day will also receive a free goody bag, making their visit extra memorable.

Book Signings

All schools’ events will be followed by a book signing in our Signing Tent where authors are available to sign books and answer questions. Some are even willing to have their photographs taken – just ask!

Some schools book signings can be very busy. If you’re intending to attend the book signing (which we do recommend – pupils often cite this face-to-face moment as the most valuable part of their visit!) please do factor this into your travel times.

Pupils can also bring books from home to be signed (but authors cannot sign scraps of paper – or body parts!)

There will also be a small selection of book for sale in our Signing Tent, and we encourage you to pay a visit to our beautiful Waterstones bookshop, located in the former fire station, which has a wide range of books for children and adults. (Please not the Bookshop will not be open on Schools Gala Day, but there will be book sales and signings in the Signing Tent.)
